The Veslic-type abrasion resistance test is one of the most requested tests to evaluate the color fastness of leather, plastic, fabrics and other materials, as the data obtained provide important information on the wear of surface treatments by 'rubbing' continuous.
In practice, the dyeing process is put to the test which must guarantee not only the uniformity of the color obtained but also the ability to maintain it over time without creating phenomena of color change or migration; there are many factors that can cause this discoloration effect including dry and wet friction, sweat, water droplets, exposure to light and weather, organic solvents, and more.
For this it is necessary to perform standardized tests in the laboratory with the RUB FASTNESS TESTER GIULIANI device to define the characteristics of color fastness.
To perform this test, direct reference is made to the international reference standards listed below but, in summary, the test consists in rubbing a white or black wool felt pad (dry or wet) to which a weight (500g - 1000g) is applied with a back and forth movement for a specified number of cycles.
During the test, the color of the felt changes according to the degree of migration of the color, or by other substances present on the surface of the sample. The evaluation of the degree of migration is verified by comparison through the ISO 105-A03 certified Gray Scale
